The setting of the world for this idea:
Environmental and climate changes have forced the earth into a new form. Natural disasters emerged on a regular basis and the tectonic plates started shifting incredibly fast, altering the earth’s form and destroying most civilisation in the process. Radiation levels spread on the surface of the Earth due to destroyed nuclear plants, as well as emissions from natural resources due to the Earth’s mutation. This period of time where disasters were occurring practically on a daily basis for 6 months is known as the Upturning. Most of the population was wiped out, except for a minuscule percentage of the population that managed to develop an “immunity” to the radiation. Some animals mutated and developed this kind of “immunity” as well.
